Michael J. Hurst, 20, of Fort Myers, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 17, 2006.
Michael was born on April 28, 1986 in Fort Myers to Michael G. and Sherry (Bartgis) Hurst. He attended Fort Myers High School and he worked as a real estate appraiser for his family's company, Michael G. Hurst and Associates. He was a gifted fisherman, having competed in many local tournaments such as the Calusa Catch and Release and the Lake and Bay Owners Tournament, which he won a 3rd place medal. Michael was an accomplished guitarist. He was a creative young man with a true gift for music.
Survivors include his parents, Michael G. and Sherry Hurst of Fort Myers, his sister, Sarah Hurst of Fort Myers, his grandmother, Lori Hamilton of Lehigh Acres, two grandfathers, Eugene Hurst of Dyersburg, TN and James Bartgis of Mount Airy, MD, an uncle, Danny Hurst of Dyersburg, TN, an aunt, Susan Hurst of Dyersburg, TN, two cousins, Daniel Burns of Fort Myers and Holly Adams of Frederick, MD, a great-aunt, Susan Grumbine of Charles Town, WV, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins living in Tennessee. His grandfather, Robert Hamilton, and his grandmother, Betty Hurst, precede Michael in death.
